Art Director



Capital One is seeking a talented Art Director to join one of our Brand Creative teams. But not just any creative, one who has a passion for all things both digital & print. We want someone that loves crafting highly usable and intuitive campaigns mixed with creative cleverness. Someone as passionate for users as they are for design.



You and a copywriter will partner to work on a variety of digital & traditional based projects. You’ll be involved with everything from banners and product page channels up to creating, building and presenting multi-channel integrated campaign experiences. You’ll collaborate with creative teams, digital teams, strategy, product teams and business partners along the way to build and refine your ideas.



You’ll join an existing team, but this is very much a new role. You’ll have the opportunity to influence our processes, architecture, and approach. This isn’t a position for someone who wants to just take orders. This is for someone who will bring new ideas to the table. We’re looking for the right mix of customer obsession, technical skill, high standards and problem solving.



**More about the Role…**



Digital first (HTML landing pages, micro sites, websites, mobile, online display banners, social) with print/traditional coming in a close second (posters, direct mail, brochures, out of home, video).



+ **40% Art Direction:** Has grasp of development for the conceptual (campaign big ideas), exploratory (does due diligence in competitive research, brand landscape research, mood boards, look & feel exploration), credible presence during presentations and able to speak to the work with excitement/clarity/enthusiasm and passion (good at selling the idea and the execution). Background in photography shoots, re-touching and video shoots to provide direction for the photography. Able to collaborate with external vendors/collaborators for projects and campaigns on a consistent basis, which will include reviews/feedback/conference-calls.

+ **60% Art Production:** Very strong attributes in a production role. Has demonstrated exceptional skill-sets in graphic design, typography, interface design (User experience design, User Interface design, Information-architecture-wire framing), information design, highly capable in illustrator creating custom iconography and info graphics based on our brand visual language. Has an eye for photography and photo re-touching (custom as well as stock). Is comfortable in the dynamic space as well as static by being capable of bringing the story/campaign/narrative to life in motion (through storyboards, animation, rough-cuts) and experiential (digital channels as well as traditional environments). Experience working in the traditional space (posters, flyers, OOH) to bring the creative to life. Experience working-in digital environments such as display advertising, HTML5 banners, responsive emails and landing-page/microsite background.



**What you will bring…**



+ A strong portfolio that includes produced work for large, integrated marketing campaigns (applicants for this position should submit their portfolios along with their resumes)

+ A positive attitude and readily partner with all types of disciplines (marketing, design, strategy, product and research teams)

+ The ability to handle multiple projects at once and meet aggressive deadlines should the need arise

+ An understanding the benefits of process, and experience using process to his/her advantage

+ The ability to translate investing and financial products into content, and present the work effectively to key stakeholders and partners

+ The ability to champion the Capital One brand identity

+ Proficiency using a Mac and/or PC and Adobe Creative suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)

+ Familiarity with other apps like Sketch and InVision, or the ability to quickly get up to speed on them

+ Strong familiarity with HTML, CSS, JAVA, JavaScript, UX/UI/IA design, responsive/adaptive mobile & web design principles



**Basic Qualifications**



+ Bachelor’s degree or Military experience.

+ At least 4 years of experience as a web designer and developer, or similar role.

+ At least 2 years of experience in UX/UI, wire framing and interaction models.



**Preferred Qualifications**



+ At least 5 years of experience as an Art Director.

+ At least 5 years of experience in digital, mobile or web with an Agency or Corporate in house creative team.

+ At least 2 years of financial industry experience.
