Associate, Payroll Garnishments and Tax


Supports Team Lead with the Garnishment processing and Tax processing/reconciling activities. Assists in supervising a team of garnishment processors and tax processors to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal agencies.



-Supports a team of garnishment processors to accurately process all incoming garnishments, child support orders and tax levies.

-Conducts research as required to resolve issues with any garnishment orders.

-Handles garnishment issues escalated by the garnishments processor and resolves issues within specified timeframe.

-Partners with vendor/supplier to ensure garnishment checks are processed accurately and on time.

-Performs routine and ad-hoc audits of the garnishment orders to ensure compliance with established standards and local, state or federal agencies.

-Prepares monthly garnishment reports.


-Supports a team of tax processors/ accountants to maintain updated tax liability information.

-Partners with vendor/supplier to ensure tax payments are made accurately and on time; works with Tax Manager to resolve any issues.

-Supports tax reconciliation process.

-Keeps updated on tax regulations.

-Supports in regularly scheduled and ad-hoc tax audits.

-Supports tax-related activities/ processes following organizational changes (e.g. M&A).

-Partners with payroll system administrator to test and implement tax-related system updates.


-Supports payroll reconciliation activities

-Works with Finance department to ensure payroll entries are reconciled with general ledger at company level

-Researches any outages and resolves in a timely manner

-Leads check reconciliation

-Prepares funding invoices

-Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulations

-Understanding of the gross to net calculation inclusive of pre/post tax deductions and taxable benefits

-Strong understanding of end to end payroll and payroll tax laws and regulations.

-Performs other duties as assigned.

**Basic Qualifications:**

-High school diploma, GED or equivalent certification or military experience

-At least 2 years of garnishment experience

-At least 2 years payroll tax experience

-Proficient in MS Office

**Preferred Qualifications:**

-Associate degree

-3-5 years of prior garnishments/ tax/ payroll experience

-Professional certification such as FPC, CPP or CPA

-Experience with ADP Smart Compliance

-Experience with Workday HR System

-Experience with case management systems

-Prior experience leading/ managing a team

-Demonstrated customer service skills, attention to detail and decision making skills

-Excellent written and verbal communication
