Brand Content Marketer and Editorial Strategist



Capital One is looking for a rock star Brand Content Marketer and Editorial Strategist to join our team. We’re looking for a seasoned marketer or communicator who is an expert in all things related to editorial, long and short form content creation, and content marketing strategy to advance both the brand story and the customer journey. The Brand Content Marketer and Editorial Strategist will think like a marketer and journalist to build brand love for Capital One by:



Supporting the content marketing lead in advancing the Brand Content Marketing Strategy.



+ Refining and leading development of actionable, innovative strategies to get engaging long-form Brand content in front of our target audiences

+ Analyzing existing content marketing activities based on data/analytics and developing clear and actionable POVs to guide future content strategy and investment allocations

+ Developing and refining Brand standards and governance for content marketing (e.g., writing style guides, tone, etc.)

+ Providing recommendations on taxonomy and information architecture

+ Advancing an SEO strategy for Brand content marketing including keyword research/tracking and technical considerations

+ Partnering with our paid social media partners on a distribution strategy

+ Supporting recommendations to continue advancing technology and UI/UX for Enterprise Content Hub



Overseeing long-form Brand content development (idea formation, briefing, writing, creating, and editing) across multiple formats and content marketing channels; collaborating with a range of content and strategy contributors of all levels.



+ Think creatively and use market trends/data to develop content themes/topics

+ Plan and manage the editorial calendar

+ Develop long-form content based on the editorial calendar and tailored to audience personas that drives critical behavioral metrics with our target audience

+ Manage the content development process including agencies, writers and workflows in our Brand calendar tool

+ Ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, and optimized for search and user experience for all channels including our digital content hub, media partners/sponsored content, social media, email, mobile, video, and in-person

+ Gather data on content performance and make recommendations based on those results

+ Drive for continuous improvement in influencer engagement and SEO relevance for digital properties

+ Stay current in a rapidly changing field interfacing with a wide range of media partners



Supporting the Brand content marketing lead in partnering with content marketing leads in Capital One’s lines of business to advance content marketing strategies.



+ Mapping content marketing to business objectives

+ Editorial strategy development

+ Content creation, distribution, maintenance, retrieval and repurposing, including the real-time implementation of content strategies



What you will bring to the role…



+ Demonstrated history of delivering marketing innovation for large scale brands

+ Skilled relationship-builder with strong, high-leverage internal networks

+ Strategic thinker: Ability to collect, organize, and synthesize information to make a decision, recommendation, or present a POV

+ Strong organizational and project management skills with an ability to effectively multi-task, establish priorities, and deliver results

+ Ability to guide and influence across all levels and functions

+ Quick learner – must be eager to independently learn about the latest technologies, solutions and platforms

+ Possess passion and skill in behavioral data and the power of making data informed decisions

+ Excellent written and oral communication skills, including proofreading

+ Strong Microsoft PowerPoint Skills



Basic Qualifications



+ Bachelor’s degree or Military experience

+ At least 6 years of experience in content marketing or consulting

+ At least 3 years of content marketing experience or executing content marketing strategies



Preferred Qualifications



+ At least 3 years of experience and knowledge in SEO, SEM, Social and Web Analytics (ideally Adobe Target)
