PACE (Program for All-Inclusive Care of the Elderly) is a community-based program which provides patients with all necessary health services while they stay in their homes. It covers many different types of services including a day center, personal care in the home, home based emergency response system, transportation to appointments, delivery of medical supplies, therapy, as well as inpatient services.  

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) performs a range of clinical duties and functions under the general supervision of the Sr. Nurse Manager and the direct supervision of the Clinic RN when performing clinical tasks during participant care. The CMA reports to the Clinic RN who is responsible for administrative supervision, staff development, and orientation of the CMA to the area?s policies and procedures. The CMA must demonstrate competency in all skills related to the performance of participant care. The CMA maintains an inventory of examination/procedure room supplies, assists in the organization of efficient participant flow, and organizes the clinic environment to assure participant safety. The CMA demonstrates problem-solving skills as they relate to participant care activities. The CMA must be able to demonstrate the knowledge required to provide age appropriate care for the participants served in the clinic and skills to interpret assessment in relation to principles of growth and development over the life span. In addition, the CMA must be knowledgeable of PACE guidelines for preauthorization and referral processes, and be attentive to scheduling testing and specialist visits using PACE guidelines.

EDUCATION:  Requires High school diploma or GED, and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, such as courses proved through Medix, community colleges, and/or vocational schools.

LICENSURE:  Must be a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (i.e. CMA, CCMA, RMA) and must be maintained as current and in good standing throughout employment. Must have successfully passed an examination through a national examination agency (such as AAMA, AMT, NHA). CPR Certification and First Aid training required and must be maintained current throughout employment.

EXPERIENCE: One year working experience with the frail and/ or elderly population required. Minimum one year of medical assistant experience in a clinical and/or medical office setting required, two-three years preferred. Phlebotomy is highly recommended
