Riverside Medical Group- Hampton Roads Eye Associates located in Williamsburg, Virginia is seeking a full time Certified Ophthalmic Assistant.

JOB SUMMARY: The Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) greets and escorts the patient to the exam/treatment room and prepares them for the physician. Records physician findings and information into the patient's chart. The COA facilitates patient education through brochures and videos. The COA prepares prescription refills for the physician to review and sign. The COA is also responsible for stocking rooms, returning calls to patients and pharmacies with medical questions. The COA facilitates patient education through brochures and videos. The COA is also responsible for stocking rooms, returning calls to patients and pharmacies with medical questions. Identifies the patients complaint or reason for the visit and assess the patients immediate needs to ensure the patient is seen in a timely manner. Records pertinent medical, allergic, ophthalmic and family histories to include current prescriptions, glasses and contact lenses. Performs and records pertinent clinical measures to
include Visual Acuities, Refractometry, Applanation Tonometry, Keratometry, Slit Lamp Exams, Visual Fields, and OCT. Performs and teaches Insert and Removal Procedures for Contact Lens Patients. Greets and escorts patients to appropriate room for examination and/or treatment. Demonstrates complete and accurate chart documentation as dictated by the physicians. Notifies physician of patients with acute needs and schedule flow.

Education: High School Graduate or equivalent.

Licensure/Certification: JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Assistant

Experience: 1- 3 years in an Ophthalmology/Optometry Office

Hours: M-F 7a-5p
