VIRGINIA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY (www.vwu.edu) seeks applications for the position of Circulation Supervisor at the Hofheimer Library.

VWU is Coastal Virginia’s premier private, national liberal arts university, offering 34 undergraduate majors, 30 minors and seven pre-professional programs. The University will begin offering an online MBA degree and four undergraduate degree completion programs in fall 2017. Affiliated with the United Methodist Church and located on a 300-acre wooded campus in the City of Virginia Beach, the University enrolls approximately 1,400 students. 

This position is a full-time, 12-month non-exempt position. The Circulation Supervisor reports directly to the Director of Hofheimer Library, The position oversees a part-time Evening Supervisor and hires, trains, and manages most of the library’s student assistants.

Requirements

The position requires a bachelor’s degree. Supervisory and customer service experience is required, as is demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail. The successful candidate must have the ability to operate general office equipment and have proficiency with computer technology, including office software (MS Office, Excel preferred).  Experience providing circulation services in a library is desired; academic library experience is preferable. Demonstrated skill in attending to detail in planning and organization is also required. We are seeking a candidate who displays professionalism, strong organizational skills, takes initiative, can work independently at times, and collaborates well as part of a team. The successful candidate must be available for rotating evening and weekend duties.
