Community Finance Equity Underwriter



**Summary:**



The purpose of this position is to analyze, underwrite, and prepare approval recommendations for community investments, primarily through Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) for Capital One. Associates in this role will assist in managing client relationships with syndicator partners. The associate will also manage the closing process and prepare activity reports for management.



**General Responsibilities** **:**



+ Structure and underwrite routine to moderately complex community investments including preparation of a written credit approval memoranda

+ Understand and employ all policies and procedures of the Bank and Line of Business

+ Evaluate the syndicator partner including a review of the organization’s people, policies, procedures and their performance track record.

+ Review and analyze financial statements of the syndicator partner

+ Monitor the performance of Capital One’s existing portfolio

+ Understand industry standards and underwriting guidelines for LIHTC investments

+ Obtain and understand market information and underwriting assumptions for the individual community investments within a Fund

+ Identify and effectively communicate credit issues with Risk Management

+ Foster a strong working relationship with Risk Management, Loan Administration and Portfolio Management

+ Work in a fast-paced environment on an independent basis

+ Perform other duties as requested



**Basic Qualifications:**



+ Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience

+ At least 3 years experience underwriting affordable housing investments OR at least 3 years experience in commercial real estate



**Preferred Qualifications:**



+ Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in business, accounting or finance

+ Experience with a syndicator of low income housing tax credits or other affordable housing industry experience

+ Experience in managing client relationships

+ Experience in working with legal counsel

+ Ability to write in a concise and clear manner to convey complex information

+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills



**Travel:** 10-15%
