Local established and growing Property Management firm is seeking a Compliance Auditor with a background in affordable housing compliance and basic accounting functions.


Key Responsibilities:

The Compliance Auditor (CA) is responsible for assisting in quality control of affordable housing site offices in regard to affordable programs including HUD Project Based Section 8, low-income housing tax-credit, rural development, and tax bond program compliance. This includes auditing and overseeing the correction of all certification paperwork to ensure compliance with the specific housing programs at the direction of the Director of Compliance.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure a firm understanding of the related housing programs.

  • Inspect resident certification(s) as well as assisting with the corrections of resident files.

  • Maintain open communications with the Director of Compliance, Regional Property Managers, and site staff.

  • Alert the Director of Compliance of repeated discrepancies or eligibility issues.

  • Submit recommendations for improvement and efficiencies in respect to compliance and quality control.

  • Submit audit findings to Regional Property Manager the Director of Compliance.

  • Submit the data for the Monthly Compliance Report of all sites audited to the Director of Compliance.

  • Provide training on program requirements and organizational systems.

  • Availability to attend related training at the direction of the Director of Compliance.

  • Assist in the preparation for third party affordable housing inspections and reviews.

  • Act as final approval for assigned properties for all new move-ins prior to occupying a unit.

  • Ensure properties are in compliance with their Resident Selection Plan and program requirements.





Minimum Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

2. Ram Certification, Virginia Real Estate Salesperson License, Certified Housing Credit Specialist (tax-credit certification), Assisted Housing Manager Certification, S.T.A.R. Certification (Section 515), or any other program related certification; or the ability to obtain all of these certifications within one (1) years’ time.

3. Good human relations skills demonstrating ability to deal with residents, peers and supervisors.

4. Ability to exercise good judgment and self-control.

5. Enthusiasm, good attitude, trustworthiness, personal integrity, honesty, and the ability to work independently.

6. Knowledge of computer software programs; in particular Microsoft Office applications, OneSite or ability to learn these programs.

7. Ability to travel between multiple locations
