Job Details

The Computer Operator position is located within the Information Technology Division, which
operates a Data Center 24 hours per day, seven days per week. :Under regular
supervision of the Unix Administrator the Computer Operator is responsible to:
a.Run production and test jobs as scheduled, insure successful completion of all jobs
by reviewing the job control language (JCL) listings for each processb.Monitor  computer
activities by observing and responding to console messages
c.Confirm successful transmission of electronic data files between HRSD and jurisdictions,
banking institutions, and work centers
d.Work closely with system users to ensure proper handling of electronic data files
 in the billing and payment processes
e. Notifies appropriate staff in the event of system failure or other abnormal shutdown incident

Requirements

a. Education
Required
High school diploma or GED and successful completion of entrylevel Information Technology coursework


b. Experience
Required
One to three years of computer operating experience in aheterogeneous mission critical environment


c. Job-specific Technical Competencies
Required
a) Knowledge of sequential approach to problem solving in aninformation technology environment
b) Skill in the use of server text editors such as Textpad,Notepad, VI
c) Skill in operating desktop computer programs such as MicrosoftOffice 2007 or later, Internet Explorer browser; PUTTY, etc.
d) Skill in operating production servers from remoteenvironment  
e) Ability to follow detailed operating procedures in a informationtechnology production environment
f) Familiarity with Red Flag Rules and how to handle sensitivecustomer information.
Desired
a) Knowledge of secure handling and encryption of files
b) Some experience with Unix operating systems
c) Knowledge of a job scheduler, how to run jobs and how toschedule jobs


d. Special License
Required
Valid driver’s license from state of residence
