JOB SUMMARY: Works under the immediate supervision of the Director. Allocates available resources to promote efficient, effective, and compassionate patient care, provide input into executive-level decisions, and keep staff informed of executive-level activities. Coordinates activities between defined areas, and provides clinical and administrative leadership and expertise. Facilitates an atmosphere of interactive management and the development of collegial relationships among nursing and social worker personnel and others. Serves as a link between CM personnel and other health care disciplines throughout the organizations. Has major responsibility for the implementation of the vision, mission, plans, and standards of the organization and patient care services within their defined areas of responsibility. Interprets and adheres to hospital department policies and procedures. Twenty-four hour accountability and responsibility for the Care Management Department. Responsible for the computer information system and computer software applications including but not limited to MIDAS, InterQual, Milliman, eDischarge and JATA (CDMP). Performs maintenance of these programs, maintains database files and security access. Knowledge in the areas of regulatory agency guidelines, legislation that affects the health care industry, and of legal/ethical issues as they relate to Case Management. This position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patients served by the CM Department.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree Preferred within 24 Months of Hire
CERTIFICATION: Licensed by the state of Virginia as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, must be Registered Respiratory Therapist and maintain Registry, must obtain RHS Advanced Airway Management (AAM) certification within three (3) months, Arterial Line Insertion within six (6) months of hire into position and maintain certification. Requires CPR/ACLS/PALS upon hire, NRP required within 90 days of employment in this position, prefer BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP instructor.
EXPERIENCE: Previous Respiratory Care experience of three (3) years required. Must be able to read and comprehend, manipulate numbers, basic computer use and interpret data. Comprehensive knowledge of respiratory process, protocols and equipment.
