Location: Tysons Corner, VA, 22182, USA

Description: 7900 Westpark Drive (12131), United States of America, Tysons, Virginia

At Capital One, we’re building a leading information-based technology company. Still founder-led by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Fairbank, Capital One is on a mission to help our customers succeed by bringing ingenuity, simplicity, and humanity to banking. We measure our efforts by the success our customers enjoy and the advocacy they exhibit. We are succeeding because they are succeeding.

Guided by our shared values, we thrive in an environment where collaboration and openness are valued. We believe that innovation is powered by perspective and that teamwork and respect for each other lead to superior results. We elevate each other and obsess about doing the right thing. Our associates serve with humility and a deep respect for their responsibility in helping our customers achieve their goals and realize their dreams. Together, we are on a quest to change banking for good.

Data UX Designer, Manager

**The Opportunity**

As a UX Designer, Manager at Capital One, you will leverage your expertise as you work with our Platform Engineering team and focus on the design, contexts and multiple touch points. This is an hands-on Designer role. You will be self-organizing and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team that includes engineers, machine learning engineers, data scientists and business partners who share your passion and drive for solving human and business problems.

**About Us**

Capital One is building an amazing data playground. A highly scalable distributed platform that takes all of our data (petabytes of it), and makes it available to analysts and systems so that we can continue doing what we’ve always done!

**About You**

A Designer with an Eye for Detail: Foremost, you’re a UX Designer who designs thoughtful interactions that will delight customers. You obsess about the details, but you understand the implications for the big picture.

**A Customer Advocate:**  People who experience your designs feel like you really know them. You’re passionate about user research and seek to elevate the customer’s needs above your own preferences.

**A Design Thinker:**  You lead human-centered design activities that frame business and customer problems. You prototype low-fidelity ways of solving problems, and design experiences that can scale to serve millions of customers.

**A Data Analyst:**  You work with interdisciplinary teams to find metrics to measure your designs against business needs. You seek out analytics and user testing data to help guide future design decisions, and you iterate on your past design decisions with a focus on continuous improvement.

**A Player-Coach:**  You’re a veteran designer who has done plenty of time in the trenches. Your hard-won scars help you mentor your peers as you execute together – all while staying humble and learning from each other.

**Intrigued?**

Let’s start the conversation. We’re not looking to fill a cookie-cutter job description. We want to discover what you’re passionate about and what makes you unique!

**Basic Qualifications**

+ At least 3 years’ experience in UX design

+ At least 1 year of experience with UX design with data visualization and data-driven applications

+ At least 3 years’ experience in UX software such as InVision or Adobe XD or Sketch, or similar tools

+ At least 1 year of experience performing user testing

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ A solid grasp of user-centered design and testing methodologies

+ Basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus

+ A solid portfolio of successful past projects

+ At least 2 years as an active user of Design Thinking methodology

+ At least 2 years of service design

+ At least 1 year leading teams in end-to-end design processes

+ At least 1 year participating and driving user research agendas

**At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.**
