Job Details: Riverside Patriots Colony at Williamsburg, is a Life Care Retirement Community for retired and former military officers, retired federal civil employees, and their spouses. Located at 600 Patriots Colony Drive, Williamsburg, VA, it is in the heart of the historic triangle, and is home to 270 independent living, 48 assisted living, 20 memory care and 60 convalescent and rehab residents.
The Registered Dietitian (RD) works under the supervision of the Dining Services Director in conjunction with the System Clinical Nutrition Manager. The RD is responsible for providing Medical Nutrition Therapy to the Convalescent Care and Assisted Living residents. Duties include: screening, assessment and reassessment of nutritional needs; nutrition education; participation in performance improvement activities; attendance in required interdisciplinary teams; and completion of required documentation and record keeping activities.

The RD will be an integrative part of the interdisciplinary clinical teams consisting of Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, CNAs, Rehab therapists, Social Workers and other staff as needed. Care coordination with the residents, family members and clinical teams is essential for providing the best care.
The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principle of growth and development over the life cycle, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's nutrition status, and interpret the appropriate information needed to his/her age-specific needs. Care will be provided as per system policy and procedure guidelines, evidence based recommendations, as well as national standards to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. The RD will promote and maintain a safe work environment by incorporating National Patient Safety initiatives into daily activities and workflows. May perform other duties as assigned by the Director or System Clinical Nutrition Manager.
Education: Bachelor's degree in course work approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) required. Completes continuing education requirements to maintain registration and certification.
Certification/Licensure: Current Registration with the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR) Minimum of Food Handlers or ServSafe Certification preferred. Additional certification desirable.
Experience: 1-2 years of healthcare experience required. Experience in Life Long Health and teaching group classes preferred.
