Director of Alumni Relations (FP337A)

The Office of Development at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for the Director of Alumni Relations (full-time, 12 month) position. This position will oversee the strategic direction of volunteer-driven alumni engagement programs. Other duties include: establish and implement guidelines and processes for the establishment of alumni groups with common interests and oversee the spending limits for these groups; work to promote alumni events among these groups utilizing a variety of methods, and ensure that the accurate populations are reached for engagement opportunities; serve as a key point of contact for alumni wishing to start new groups; establish a network for alumni to connect for professional networking purposes, both through events and online methods; lead the scheduling for the alumni-related programming for Homecoming, to include connect with other key campus constituents such as student engagement, athletics, development, etc; personally travel or ensure that outreach staff are present to support alumni programs as needed; provide regular updates to AVP of Alumni Relations on status of established groups, groups in formation, and those who have expressed interest.

Requirements

Required Education: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university OR a bachelor’s degree with experience equivalent to that of a master’s degree.

 

Required Qualifications: Considerable years of progressive experience in alumni relations and familiarity with principles and practices of annual giving. Demonstrated ability to strategize, implement and build constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers. Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills and knowledge of database research and maintenance. Ability to work with students, as well as volunteers of all ages.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in educational advancement.
