Director, Product Management

Our US Card division is selectively recruiting a creative, forward-thinking Product & Strategy leader to build out the next generation of intelligent data platform capabilities to power real-time, personalized and predictive analytics & servicing experiences that impact millions of consumers. You’ll be part of a team that’s leading the next wave of disruption at a whole new scale, using the latest in distributed computing technologies and operating across billions and billions of customer transactions to unlock the big opportunities that help everyday people save money, time and agony in their financial lives. As Director of Digital Product Management for the Capital One Card team, you’ll be working with product managers, engineers, data scientists and business analysts across the business who share your passion and drive for solving human and business problems with the power of data and new technologies. We are on a quest to dramatically change what a credit card can offer to our customers.



On any given day you’ll be:

• Understanding the long term vision and key drivers of businesses at Capital One and mapping that vision to a foundational set of fast and big data capabilities

• Evangelizing the new real-time data-driven business and operational models that align with the business vision

• Leading building a world-class real-time data environment leveraging open source technologies and robust data management practices

• Developing real-time data production & consumption standards and patterns

• Training business and technical leaders, developers, and product managers on data practices, opportunities, and realities

• Discovering needs, gaps and opportunities while working directly with internal and external consumers

• Building dynamic customer experiences powered by data and intelligence

• Continuously informed of emerging fast and big data trends and stay engaged in the external data community



What we are looking for:

• Passion, knowledge and experience for emerging & leading data technologies and elegant design

• Understanding of data architecture and agile development patterns

• Startup experience and/or some well-oiled large company product chops

• Passion for identifying and solving real consumer and business problems

• Bias toward action, rapid prototyping and ability to think on your feet

• Exceptional leadership and communication skills

• Collaborative, team player attitude (confidence without attitude)

• Ability to empower teams and deliver great products

• Creative, outside-the-box thinking and problem solving approach

• Experience scoping and prioritizing product roadmaps, optimizing conversion funnels and using customer success metrics to identify opportunities for improvement

• At least 5 years’ experience building data and consumer products with new technologies

• Great translator; able to speak the language of technology and of business teams

• Ability to deal with ambiguity, change, and shifting priorities

• Excellent presentation skills, comfortable presenting to senior leadership

• Strong attention to detail, combined with ability to see and explain the big picture



**Basic Qualifications:**

• Bachelor’s degree or military experience

• At least 8 years’ experience leading cross functional product teams



**Preferred Qualifications:**

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field

• Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Masters Degree in a quantitative field (business, math, economics, finance, statistics, science, engineering)

• Technical expertise and experience working with Fast & Big data technologies including Kafka, Spark, AWS, Github

• 5+ years’ experience building and managing a roadmap for consumer facing digital products

• 5+ years’ experience with agile product development
