Director, US Cobrand Card Partner Lead (Union Plus/International Brotherhood of Teamsters or UP/IBT)



As a senior member of Capital One’s Card Team, the Partner Lead, U.S. Card Partnerships (Union Plus/International Brotherhood of Teamsters or UP/IBT) will be responsible for collaborating with the Cobrand Managing Vice President and Cross Functional teams to drive sales and loan growth for the UP/IBT client. The Partner Lead will serve as the primary point of contact for the UP/IBT client in a general management role where he or she will own and manage the P&L from every perspective. General knowledge or intellectual curiosity about the American labor movement and unions is required for success. This person will leverage that knowledge to deliver a strong value proposition to Capital One’s partnership with UP/IBT and manage the overall growth, profitability, performance and operations of this portfolio. In addition to superb strategic and analytical abilities, the successful candidate will be a talented professional who demonstrates genuine business and leadership skills; a collaborative and motivating style; and employs communication skills and gravitas to effectively influence/liaise with all stakeholders.



Key Relationships



Reporting to the Managing Vice President - Card Partnerships, the Partner Lead, U.S. Card Partnerships (UP/IBT) will be a senior partner-facing professional who will comfortably operate at the highest level of leadership within the UP/IBT and AFL-CIO Partner organizations, as well as stakeholders across Capital One. Other key relationships include: Card Executives, Partnerships Leadership Team, Operations, Finance, Horizontal Credit/CRM, Risk Management, Legal/Compliance & Card Marketing.



Responsibilities



The Partner Lead, U.S. Card Partnerships (UP/IBT) will be responsible for the following:



+ Manage and develop UP/IBT client relationships to increase program effectiveness and partner advocacy for working with Capital One

+ Work with MVP to develop portfolio growth plan in support of overall Cobrand strategic intent

+ Collaborate with UP/IBT client teams in Washington, DC to develop Partner-level annual budget commitments and deliver program performance results

+ Manage P&L, investment decisions & prioritization through agile tools and technology

+ Leverage UP/IBT partner channels to expand distribution and drive new accounts

+ Work with cross-functional team to ensure all compliance and contractual obligations are met

+ Assist in maintaining competitive intel to optimize key differentiators for Capital One vs. the competition

+ Lead Management Committee Meetings (MCM’s) and Monthly Business Reviews (MBR’s) with UP/IBT Partner teams and internal Capital One teams

+ Provide reporting and value added analysis to UP/IBT client to asses and influence program performance

+ Work with Partnerships Operations team to ensure the best possible Customer Experience and resolve day-to-day escalations with a sense of urgency

+ Live the Capital One values and act as a role model for Card Talent Profile leadership behaviors, including an ability to successfully drive change and develop the team by leading through others

The successful candidate will be a seasoned professional with proven ability to operate effectively in a complex, highly-regulated, and evolving environment. He or she will have a demonstrated ability to develop a vision, drive and manage the execution of that vision, and deliver top-tier results. He or she will exhibit excellent leadership skills to leverage the capabilities of peers, business partners, and associates, and should possess the confidence and poise to influence the executive leadership team and various external stakeholders. Strong business judgement, analytical acumen, and communication skills are essential. Similarly, important is a high degree of emotional intelligence, good team dynamics, and an ability to be effective at all levels of the organization.

+ Confident and articulate with well-developed verbal and presentation skills. Able to clearly explain commercial concepts at all levels and produce appropriate supporting communication materials/presentations.

+ Extensive experience managing or supporting client relationships with C-Suite level executives

+ Identify and capitalize on new trends to foster innovative thinking and creative solutions for partnerships

+ A management style that is collaborative, energetic, results-oriented, and innovative

+ Unquestioned ethics, integrity and intellectual honesty, with sound judgement



Competencies



+ Demonstrated prior experience involving contract negotiations, competitive pricing, business planning and P&L management

+ Strong analytical, project management, marketing and creative skills

+ Proven ability to negotiate and influence senior level decision makers

+ Ability to make strategically bold decisions in a disciplined, fact-based manner

+ Proven ability to work independently and demonstrate intellectual rigor

+ Knowledge of CRM solutions to lead team through processes to prospect, administer campaign leads, update deal records, and manage pipeline to grow

+ Ability to deliver compelling sales presentations, such as product demonstrations that highlight key benefits, and the “WIIFM” value of Capital One services

+ Organizational skills and effective time management to succeed in a competitive and dynamic environment

+ Proven track record in success in B2B2C selling



Basic Qualifications



+ Bachelors Degree or military experience

+ At least 10 years experience in client development or marketing role managing business partnerships or cobrand portfolio within financial services space



Preferred Qualifications



+ Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
