Job Description Summary

This part-time position will assist in the administration of a comprehensive Dual Enrollment program as it pertains to academic programs and student support serves. The Dual Enrollment program will enhance the overall recruitment effort, promoting Tidewater Community College to include external constituencies such as the Virginia Beach area high schools, private organizations and home school populations.


The program manager will be responsible in assisting all aspects of the Dual Enrollment program: recruitment and planning; continued promotion and awareness of the program to high school students, their parents, high school personnel (counselors, teachers, and administrators). Communicate Dual Enrollment Admissions requirements, registration requirements, and interpretation of placement scores. The program manager will assist in processing applications, maintaining databases, and determining Dual Enrollment eligibility. Works closely with the Enrollment Services & Domicile Office to ensure appropriate registration. Assist in collaborating with College-Wide Testing Center Coordinator, Testing Center, and local high schools in administering the Virginia Placement Test. Provide support for High School Career Coaches as needed. Provide Orientation for Dual Credit students. Maintain student records in SIS, place appropriate student group, and other databases as needed. Meet one on one or in a group setting with potential students regarding the process of Dual Enrollment and eligibility requirements. Contribute in the evaluation of the dual enrollment process and procedures. Provide front office support during peak periods of registration. Participate in Open House, Special Enrollment Days, and recruitment events as directed by Admissions Coordinator. Perform other assignments as required by supervisor and authorized college personnel.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge of customer services practices and strong interpersonal skills. A thorough knowledge of college policies, procedures and guidelines, and the ability to interpret and explain these polices to students, faculty and staff. Knowledge of state and federal regulations and policies as they pertain to the college’s compliance guidelines. Exceptional time management skills and the ability to prioritize work assignments with minimal supervision. Ability to adapt and function in a fast paced, heavy/time sensitive workload environment that requires continual multi-tasking ability. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse clientele. Excellent oral presentation and written communication skills. Competent in use of word processing, spreadsheet, email and database software applications. Abilities to work collaboratively throughout the college and with the community. High level of initiative and imagination with ability to design set up and staff promotional displays for community and high school events. Extensive knowledge of college programs, services and operational procedures and policies. Able to work independently and in a team setting. Ability to organize and prioritize daily work in a customer service environment. Experience in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with course work in education, counseling, or related fields. Bachelor’s Degree. Experience in community college.

Work Schedule

This position will be scheduled to work 29 hours per week. Specific shifts will vary from week to week – applicants must be willing to work flexible schedules. Most shifts will be between 8:30 AM and 6:30 PM; however, some evenings and weekends will also be required.
