Job Summary: Works under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Charge Capture Analyst for Emergency Services. The Charge Capture Analyst is responsible for monitoring charge capture and charge reconciliation outcomes for RHS Emergency Departments. Works closely with revenue cycle, patient accounting, HIMS and other key management personnel through the system to ensure complete and accurate charge capture and improve documentation compliance. Ensures that all additions, changes and deletions are consistent with proper charging, billing, coding and pricing practices. Understands the annual review of charge master and quarterly updates as appropriate to enhance revenue for Emergency Departments. Monitors and reports all revenue departments charge volumes and late charges. Fully understands the process flow of all assigned departments for their charging process, whether paper or electronic. Plans, designs, conducts and completes audits on charging and/or documentation accuracy and compliance with federal regulations and guidelines.
Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED Required and 2+ years' experience in Charge Description Master, Charge Capture or Outpatient Coding required. Bachelor's Degree accepted in lieu of experience.
Certification: Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or other coding specialty certification preferred.
