**External Job Description:**

The candidate must have a detailed technical knowledge and experience in the application of acoustic principals in the generation, transmission, and mitigation of structureborne, fluidborne, and airborne noise for acoustic analysis for Naval systems. The candidate will apply this expertise to both submarine and surface ship platforms. Thorough knowledge of ship design processes is necessary. Candidate must provide a technically sound approach for solving unique or complex problems.

Candidate must have superior written and verbal communication skills. Candidate will participate in identifying and developing individuals who could serve as a successor to this position. Candidate must be able to establish and maintain technical relationships with internal and external organizations and accept leadership roles in the field of acoustics development.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

The candidate must have technical expertise in the field of naval acoustic analysis, data integration and requirements development.

Candidate will apply sound comprehensive technical principles and advanced knowledge of finite element and related analytical methodologies to address unique or complex acoustic related issues or requests across all programs. Resolution of these issues may require development of unique analytical approaches and/or laboratory testing. This position requires expertise that is recognized within the Navy and HII technical community. Researches and develops advanced new applications resulting in new product/business opportunities for the company.
