**External Job Description:**

Selected candidate will serve as Obsolescence Management Group (OMG) Lead for the A1B Propulsion plant Planning Yard (PPPY). The OMG Lead establishes, maintains, improves and documents the processes and procedures for the PPPY’s Obsolescence Management Program. The OMG Lead maintains, monitors and improves the databases, tools and resources needed to manage propulsion plant obsolescence. He or she tracks and stays abreast of DoD best practices per SD-22, and leads the program in addressing obsolescence challenges, establishing proactive identification methods, and identifying resources to improve obsolescence management performance.

He or she communicates all obsolescence issues to the customer and cognizant engineering group(s). The OMG Lead tracks, prioritizes, and provides reports for all outstanding obsolescence issues and maintain historical record of resolutions. He or she performs periodic obsolescence risk assessments and establishes metrics and set goals to track performance. The OMG Lead chairs periodic video teleconferences with the Customers to report progress on unresolved obsolescence issues.

He or she maintains all obsolescence training requirements and oversees cognizant engineering groups’ training. The OMG Lead assists engineering with validating obsolescence notifications, aids in identifying best-fit resolution plans, helps develop contingency plans, researches technical manuals, drawing, and logistics data sources to identify possible replacement components, assists with parts research, checks shore-based Navy Supply System assets and shipboard OBRP assets, checks average quarterly demand, and assists engineering with executing early buys, bridge buys or life-of need buys.

Applies electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing. Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems.
