Newport News Shipbuilding, a Division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is currently searching for iDS Industrial Engineer - Entry Level 1, to join our team integrated planning and production control and embark on a courageous project to turn shipbuilding paperless; what we call Integrated Digital Shipbuilding or iDS.

NNS is in the midst of a Digital Transformation and the Visual Build Management (VBM) team is a core contributor to this initiative’s success. By working closely with experienced construction personnel, leveraging cutting edge digital solutions, and developing innovative capabilities to business process requirements the VBM team is providing world class project management solutions for the complex industrial environment.

This role is for an Industrial Engineer who will work with various areas of the value stream and the development team within VBM to document revolutionary planning/project management processes, coach users through successful implementation of VBM processes and tools, and continuously evaluate performance for opportunities for improvement.

Analyzes and designs sequence of operations and work flow to improve efficiencies in plant and production facilities and equipment layouts; and establishes methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel. May establish or assist in establishing accident prevention measures and may manage training programs for personnel concerning all phases of production operations. Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems. On the basis of these studies, develops and implements plans and programs for facility modifications and revisions to operating methods. May assist facilities engineers in the planning and design of facilities.
