**External Job Description:**



The primary focus areas will be engineering and quality for the Virginia Class Submarine (VCS) Virginia Payload Module (VPM) X83 Design Build Sustain (DBS) team onsite X83 office at Electric Boat Groton CT.



This position coordinates efforts for design disclosures, engineering evaluations, engine room, nuclear propulsion, quality issues, module deliveries, and program initiatives, etc.

Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product. Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes and mechanisms, and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.



Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements in the areas of design, engineering, test, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.

Conducts technical analysis of product implementations, modifications, and enhancements to product in accordance with specific customer specifications and implementations. Troubleshoots technical problems and issues, determines technical solutions in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommends actions to company or customer representatives for coordinative product solution.



Assesses product needs in accordance with customer specifications. Acts as local Newport News Shipbuilding on-site representative to Electric Boat.



This position will interface with NNS home departments, Electric Boat (EB), and government counterparts.



Candidate should be capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances in the industrial or shipboard environment.



Candidate should be able to obtain a secret level clearance.
