|Job Description Summary||
Adjunct faculty members must be responsible for effectively planning and teaching college English courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. Courses will be part of the Norfolk Achieves Dual Enrollment Program, taking place within the five Norfolk Public High Schools for eligible students. Teaching hours will vary between 7:30 AM and 3:00 PM Monday through Friday.
The instructor assumes responsibility for planning, teaching, and evaluating students in accordance with Tidewater Community College policies and appropriate course learning outcomes. All faculty members must be skilled in oral and written communication and must be able to work cooperatively with other staff members.
Master’s degree in English, Literature, Creative Writing, Rhetoric; or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in English, Literature, Creative Writing, Rhetoric, or Composition/Writing from a regionally accredited college or university.
Teaching experience in the discipline. Knowledge of and experience with, proven teaching strategies that promote student success. Candidates should possess sufficient technology skills to work productively in an organization that utilizes significant information and instructional technology resources.
Teaching hours will vary between 7:30 AM and 3:00 PM Monday through Friday.
