Job Description Summary

This position will provide timely, accurate, and professional service to students, faculty, staff, and the public by enrollment services through individual and team efforts on campus and college-wide. To willingly and pleasantly resolve enrollment related concerns.

Function

The Enrollment Services Assistant will be the primary point of service and information for students registering at the Norfolk campus and for faculty and the public conducting business with the campus Enrollment Services Office. The incumbent will use public relations skills to provide accurate information and advice on the following processes: admissions, update registrations (credit and non-credit), domicile, grades, records correction, and transcript requests. Review paperwork for accuracy for registrations, senior citizen, cross registration, audits and name and social security number changes. Assist with grade verification. Research and resolve issues related to on and off campus registration. Responsible for performing quality control by auditing and correcting documents that have been scanned and indexed in to electronic document management software.

Required Qualifications

Skilled in office management, including the coordination, and planning of administrative office functions. Knowledge of time management, organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines with competing tasks simultaneously. Knowledge of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and ability to work with detailed and confidential information within an educational setting. Ability to maintain and monitor budgets using automated informational technology for purchasing and record keeping. Ability to produce reports and queries utilizing a variety of PC software programs including Word, Excel, and Access, and the ability to use general office equipment. Ability to collaborate with other departments. Ability to demonstrate problem-solving and decision-making skills as well as ability to work as a team member in a busy, multi-tasking office. Ability to work in a customer-oriented environment that includes one-on-one contact with a diverse public. Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Experience working in a customer-oriented environment that includes one-on-one contact with a diverse public. Experience using PC software (word processing, databases and spreadsheet) and office machines or related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and experience.

Work Schedule

Monday and Tuesday from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
