Job Description Summary

Tidewater Community College seeks applications for two (2) Enrollment Services Specialist. These positions will serve as the primary point of service and information for students registering at the Virginia Beach campus and for faculty and the public conducting business with the campus Enrollment Services Office. The incumbent will use public relations skills to provide accurate information and advice to the above constituents on the following processes: admissions, update registrations (credit and non-credit), domicile, grades, records correction, and transcript requests.

  • Responsible for advising students on enrollment services issues including course registration, grades, student data changes, admissions, transcripts requests, withdrawal (student and faculty), repeats, suspension/dismal, cross registration, certification, release of directory information
  • Disseminates current information on tuition assistance, tuition rates, payment due dates, tuition appeal procedures and payment plan options.
  • Provides pertinent information regarding senior citizen enrollment (credit and/or audit) options.
  • Clarifies College and VCCS policies as they pertain to graduation filing and certification.
  • Collaborates and works closely with the College’s Academic Divisions to resolve time sensitive enrollment and grading processing issues.
  • Reviews and updates applications and reclassification. Independently determines domicile status according to Virginia statue and SCHEV guidelines. Informs students of appeals processes and collects appropriate documentation from students seeking to submit and appeal.
  • Evaluates student’s academic records to determine eligibility for Academic Renewal.
  • Processes verifications and maintains the verification database, and transcript processing system.
  • Responsible for quality control, linking and final review of documents scanned into Image Now.
  • Provide assistance in answering incoming phone calls and contacts students via phone or email to clarify pertinent information.
  • Any and all duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills. Ability to employ efficient and effective problem solving strategies. Ability to work as a team member in a complex process and intensive contact environment. Ability to organize and work with details accurately and to validate data for appropriateness and completeness. Knowledge and ability to apply effective customer service techniques. Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Knowledge of domicile regulations. Experience and ability to use PC software using variety of software programs including MS Office application. Experience working in a one-on-one customer oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of and ability to interpret Virginia Community College System, FERPA, and College policies and procedures relating to all aspects of Enrollment Services. Experience in a college admissions or financial aid office. Community college work experience. Associate degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and experience.

Work Schedule

These positions will be working 29 hours per week:

Position 1 will work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:30 AM – 4:30 PM and Thursday from 11:30 AM – 4:30 PM.

Position 2 will work Monday and Tuesday from 12:30 PM – 6:30 PM, Wednesday from 12:00 AM -5:00 PM, and Thursday and Friday from 11:00 PM – 5:00 PM.

Some Saturdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 will also be required.
Some additional hours may be required during peak registration cycles.
