Job Description:

Responsible for maintaining and developing Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental programs that supports the safe execution of production activities in accordance with the corporate safety and environmental policy and all federal, state and local regulations.

 

Establish working partnerships across the organization to promote a positive, proactive approach to insuring worker health safety and environmental protection.

 

Create and maintain an effective method for review of work processes to insure an effective approach to hazard identification, and risk assessment.

 

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

 

Conduct daily safety and environmental inspections onboard ships and at various worksites and assist on-site Supervisors with implementation of safety policy and regulatory requirements.

 

Conduct accident investigations, studies, interprets results, presents specific conclusions, and makes recommendations to immediately initiate corrective actions needed.

Ensure adequate risk assessment and hazard analysis at worksites to identify job hazards and establish appropriate controls that can encompass the full range of occupational safety and health hazards related to the ship repair work environment.

Schedule, conduct, and oversee occupational safety, health and environmental training.  Insure that all employees are appropriately trained in safety and environmental practice.


Review and update Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental policies and procedures, ensuring they are accurate, current, and reflect the latest Regulatory, Industry, and Company standards and requirements

Requirements

Job Requirements/skill sets:

 

Thorough knowledge in EHS regulations (examples include but not limited to OSHA, EPA), consensus standards, and customer specifications, with specific addition focus on maritime standards.

Working knowledge of industrial hygiene, such as air monitoring for heavy metals, noise monitoring, paint sampling and illumination surveys.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

During ship board and shop inspections the Manager will be exposed to hot and cold temperatures, wind and rain. Frequently required to move freely onboard ship to traverse tight passageways, squat, stand, reach, bend, climb vertical ladders/stairs, and lift and carry 20 lbs of equipment, enter and exit confined spaces/tanks & voids. 

Education:

Bachelors of Science degree in Environmental Sciences or five years of equivalent experience.

Security Clearance:Candidate will currently possess or be able to obtain a Secret Government Security Clearance.
