Harbor's Edge

Step inside Harbor's Edge where the concierge greets you by name. Walking through the sedate, luxurious lobby, you wave to friends in the library and check on the next movie showing. Retreating to your spacious apartment you step out on the recessed balcony and enjoy the view of schooners moving silently across the glassy waters of the Elizabeth River. You leave to meet friends at the intimate Horizon's Lounge and share a bottle of wine and play a game of cards before dinner. Your party makes its way to the River Terrace restaurant and is seated on the outdoor terrace. Laughter dances across the air as you enjoy the chef-prepared meal and then linger over dessert, taking in another breath-taking sunset. This is retirement at its finest. This is Harbor's Edge.

At Harbor's Edge we are committed to creating a new standard for senior living. Personal attention, luxurious amenities, dedicated service and true lifecare are the hallmarks of the Harbor's Edge lifestyle and our commitment to all residents.

  • Line of Business:

In January 2000, Neil Volder of Volder Consulting LLC., unveiled his vision for a unique resort-style waterfront retirement community adjacent to historic Fort Norfolk. He partnered with Greystone Communties, Inc. of Dallas Texas, a leader in creating tailored services for more than 300 retirement communities nationwide, to plan the development. More than four years and $4.8 million later, Volder and eight of Norfolk's top recognized business leaders who agreed to serve as volunteer members of the Board of Directors, successfully obtained financing for Harbor's Edge. Ground was broken for the development on November 8, 2004 and within 9 weeks the development had set a record for selling all available residences. Harbor's Edge charter members moved into the magnificent building in August 2006.

The Harbor's Edge community itself is rich with history. Harbor's Edge is located in historic Fort Norfolk, the site of one of 19 harbor-front forts authorized by President George Washington in 1784.
