Instructor of Early Care and Education (FP435A)

The Children’s Learning and Research Center (CLRC) at Old Dominion University is seeking applications for the Instructor of Early Care and Education (full-time, 12-month) position. Reporting to the Director of the CLRC, this position will teach children between the ages of eight weeks and five years. Responsibilities include classroom teaching in a family centered program using project based learning and an emergent curriculum, supervision of assistant staff, collaboration with academic faculty, mentoring of pre-service teacher candidates, and participation in academic research.

Requirements

Required Education: Master’s degree in early childhood education, early childhood special education or closely related field. An earned bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, early childhood special education or closely related field with significant experience may be substituted.


Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to communicate and relate with parents as well as work effectively as a team player. Demonstrated skill in supervising a classroom with attention to developmentally appropriate practices. Demonstrated ability to supervise student assistants and practicum students. Experience working with children ages eight weeks to six years.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Pre K-3 Virginia teaching certification. Experience in licensed center-based child care facility.
