The Mainframe Systems Engineering group is responsible for the systems engineering, automation, networking, security and online systems support functions for the US, UK and Canada. We install, maintain and configure all operating systems software and associated IBM and ISV software. This includes but is not limited to the following: inter LPAR communication, inter data center communications, client facing communications and general handoff of routing protocols between the mainframe systems and the associated network switches, routers and firewalls. We support more than 100 z/OS and z/VM LPAR's running on IBM's z/13 & z/14 mainframes. We seek a recent College Graduate who is interested in a career in IBM mainframe systems. This position would require Design Engineering responsibilities.


RESPONSBILITIES:


  • Provide first and second level operating systems support for the z/OS, z/VM & z/LINUX mainframe environments.
    • CICS systems engineering, resource definitions, production applications support.
    • Implement and test and support specific communications application products such as MQ, Connect:Direct, HOD
    • Design , Implement and support Disaster recovery strategy for both ZOS and ZVM operating systems
    • Design, Implement and support communications strategy for Zlinux guests including OSA support and Virtual switching.
    • Assist in the installation, testing and debugging of vendor-supplied software packages to ensure efficient use and integration with existing system software.
    • Provide technical assistance to applications programming, computer operations, regional support associates and tech support personnel.
    • Design, test and implement REXX code, Automation and GDPS Scripts to improve data processing operations and recovery.
    • Evaluate, analyze and implement security features and functions for all IBM and ISV software running in the mainframe environments.
    • Provide support for any hardware changes that occur in the Data Centers and the remote regional environments.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Education: BS Computer Science
  • Experience: 2 years of exposure to mainframe products
  • Product experience in as many of the products that ADP indicated below:
    • Multiple Operating systems z/OS and z/VM
    • Job Control Language and Utilities
    • Protocols include TCP/IP (ftp and ssh)
    • Network Security -- TLS Certificates, SSH Public/Private keys, Unix System Services, Policy Agent
    • Communication applications such as MQ, Connect:direct (NDM) , Host on Demand (HOD)
    • Communications skills on Zlinux guest networking (OSA, Vswitch, etc.)
    • RACF, JES2, DFSMS/HSM/RMM, HFS/ZFS, SMB/DCE, SMP/E, TSO, CMS, ISPF, SDSF, DB2, VSAM, CICS, CONTROL-M, CA-VIEW, CA-DELIVER, CA-SYSVIEW, OMEGAMON Suite
    • VTAM and APPN
    • Assembler, COBOL, REXX, C, Python, Ansible, JAVA
