Job Description Summary

The part-time Grants/Proposal Writer will prepare highly-compelling and persuasive written fundraising materials including proposals, grant applications, reports, solicitation and gift acknowledgement letters, and project budgets and expense reports for a range of donors including individual major donors, corporate and foundation giving, donor-advised funds, and other prospects. This position is for the duration of the Major Gifts Campaign which will be for approximately 18 – 24 months.

  1. Responsible for a variety of writing projects for the Major Gifts Campaign, including proposals, letters of intent, reports, online grant applications, sponsorship briefs, presentations, pledge reminders, acknowledgement letters, project budgets, expense reports and other correspondence.
  2. Prepare and maintain current, supporting documents for proposals including operating budget, financial statements, board list, donor lists, etc.
  3. Monitor and adhere to assignment deadlines, while demonstrating the ability to be flexible and turn with ease from one kind of writing assignment to another.
  4. Work with other departments to gather information necessary for proposals and reports.
  5. In collaboration with the Development Officers, administration, and TCCEF will write and compile stewardship reports and other communications for donors and sponsors, and create infographics.
  6. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  1. Experience in grants and proposal writing (preferably in higher education and in a major gifts campaign environment).
  2. Superior writing skills and demonstrated ability to develop proposals, reports, and accompanying financial materials.
  3. Ability to identify, review, interpret, and summarize funding opportunities.
  4. Professional communication skills; ability to write clearly, professionally, and complete projects independently with minimal direct supervision.
  5. Skill in Microsoft Office Suite.
  6. Ability to manage multiple projects.
  7. Ability to maintain highly confidential and proprietary information
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Master’s degree.
  2. Skill in using Raiser’s Edge or similar fund raising software.
Work Schedule

The hours of work are9:30 AM-4:00 PM, Monday – Thursday and 9:30 AM-3:00 PM on Friday with some flexibility in schedule.
