Manager of Operations and Business Services (FP477A)

The Darden College of Education at Old Dominion University is accepting applications for the Manager of Operations and Business Services (full-time, 12 month) position. This position provides strategic, analytic leadership and oversight for the fiscal operations of the Darden College of Education, including budget development, implementation, procurement, financial reporting, and scholarship funds administration. This position is a key advisor providing decision-making information to the Dean of the Darden College of Education on the allocation, coordination, and analyses of assigned fiscal resources and facilities management.


Required Education: Master’s degree in business administration or account/finance.

Required Qualifications:
Related work experience in budgeting and program oversight. Experience in establishing financial accountability processes, internal controls and developing short and long term business plans. Extensive experience using Banner (including Banner scheduling, finance, and general student). Experience in an accounting management position with responsibilities for budget preparation and development of management-level financial reports to track budget execution. Experience in Microsoft Office (with advanced expertise in Excel), SPSS, and/or other statistical analysis packages. Significant experience in financial management and administration in higher education. Comprehensive knowledge of financial systems and practices to include the areas of budgetary analysis, planning, development, execution, and monitoring. Ability to analyze and track enrollment data. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to schedule, prioritize, problem solve, and provide support to the Dean of the College related to fiscal resources, enrollment management, and accomplishing goals. Understanding of travel procedures and reimbursements. Demonstrated ability to work independently; meet strict deadlines; interpret policies, analyze data, make sensible recommendations and decisions; and maintain the utmost confidentiality involving matters of a sensitive nature.
