The Role:

As a Manager Scrum Master in a Capital One Commercial Technology Train, you will be responsible for ensuring Scrum is understood and enacted across 2 Agile teams simultaneously. Scrum Masters do this by ensuring that the Scrum Teams adhere to Scrum theory, practices, and rules. The Scrum Master is an advocate for the Scrum Teams. The Scrum Master helps those outside the Scrum Teams understand which of their interactions with the Scrum Teams are helpful and which aren’t. The Scrum Master helps everyone change these interactions to maximize the value created by the Scrum Teams.

Responsibilities of a Manager Scrum Master consist of service to the Product Owner, the Team, and the Organization:

The Scrum Master Service to the Product Owner:

-Finding techniques for effective Product Backlog management

-Creates forum for communicating vision, goals, and Product Backlog items to the Team

-Teaching the Team to create clear and concise Backlog items

-Understanding long-term product planning

-Understanding and practicing agility

-Facilitating Scrum events as requested or needed

Scrum Master Service to the Team:

-Coaching the Team in self-organization and cross-functionality

-Teaching and leading the Team to create high-value products

-Removing impediments to the Team’s progress

-Facilitating Scrum events as requested or needed

-Coaching the Team in organizational environments in which Scrum is not yet fully adopted and understood.

Scrum Master Service to the Organization:

-Leading and coaching the organization in its Scrum adoption

-Planning Scrum implementations within the organization

-Helping employees and stakeholders understand and enact Scrum and empirical product development

-Causing change to increase the productivity of the Team

-Compliance with Capital One policies for project delivery

-Working with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization.

The person will:

-Communicate and facilitate effectively across diverse audiences within and outside of the Sprint Team (Stakeholders, Executives)

-Be able to remove obstacles for the team or direct obstacles to appropriate owners for resolution quickly

-Be knowledgeable about software development lifecycle

-Provide perspective to the team and keeps team focused on critical deliverables and tasks.

-Be comfortable working with a wide range of roles and levels (business, compliance, Legal, IT, etc)

-Motivate and model open communication to help surface issues for faster resolution

-Influence across wide range of stakeholders

**Basic Qualifications:**

- Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience

- At least 3 years of Project Management experience

- At least 3 years of Scrum experience

- At least 3 years of people management experience

- At least 2 years of experience using the Scaled agile framework

- At least 1 year of experience as a Release Train Engineer

**Preferred Qualifications:**

- Masters / MBA degree

- 5 + years of Project Management

- 5 + years of Scrum experience

- 5 + years of People Management experience

- CSM, PMP, Lean or Six Sigma certification
