Manager, Supplier Diversity



**Manager, Supplier Diversity role**



Summary: Capital One believes having a supply base that reflects our associate population and the communities we serve helps us to better meet the needs of our customers. We have a team of associates dedicated to establishing relationships with diverse suppliers in the communities in which we operate and developing unique programs to provide diverse businesses with tangible skills training. From mentoring to technical education, our goal is to ensure that diverse suppliers can compete for our business as well as business from other Fortune 500 firms.



The Manager, Supplier Diversity is expected to work in a collaborative environment with internal constituents, including teammates in procurement as well as human resources, community development banking, and government relations, to help Capital One deliver on its supplier diversity objectives. The manager will also build relationships with external stakeholder groups including non-profit partners that represent certified minority, women, LGBT, veteran, service-disabled veteran and disability-owned businesses to help advance business opportunities for them as suppliers, contractors and sub-contractors.



Responsibilities:



+ Create and implement unique initiatives for introducing diverse suppliers to Capital One and/or providing them with development opportunities, as part of annual and multi-year program plans to meet or exceed supplier diversity goals.

+ Proactively seek to elevate Capital One’s profile as a proponent of diverse suppliers by engaging with national and local non-profit supplier councils through participation at trade shows, conferences, on boards and committees, etc.

+ Identify and champion viable, diverse suppliers using innovative processes and tools, introduce them to sourcing managers for upcoming opportunities within Capital One.

+ Collaborate with sourcing and contracting teams to ensure they have appropriate information on diverse suppliers to include them in RFPs and inform decision making.

+ Proactively build and manage relationships with cross-functional leaders and stakeholders across a range of levels, business functions and geographies.

+ Generate interest in and recruit associates to participate in supplier diversity programs and at events

+ Contribute to and influence communications including award applications, and supplier diversity-focused articles for internal and external purposes.

+ Monitor and report progress of initiatives against program goals to internal stakeholders as well as prepare reports related to supplier diversity as requested by regulators, non-profit organizations and other external stakeholders.



+ Job requires approx. 15-20% travel



**Basic Qualifications:**



+ Bachelor’s degree or military experience



+ At least 5 years of sourcing, procurement experience

**Preferred Qualifications:**



+ Master’s Degree

+ At least 2+ years’ Financial Services or Digital industry

+ At least 2 years’ prior supplier diversity or program management experience

+ Experience with nonprofit organizations or community development banking

+ Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, analytical talent and attention to detail

+ Excellent communication (written and oral), relationship development and management, organizational and planning, and strong financial skills

+ Ability to handle a multiple-task, pressure-deadline work environment

+ Must possess strong executive presence and have expertise in relationship building

+ Solid project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once and adapt to rapidly changing priorities
