Marketing Director, Upmarket Card Acquisitions



Capital One is seeking a tenured leader to serve as Director of Acquisitions Marketing for the Card Marketing team. In this exciting role, you will lead direct marketing activities for our flagship credit card products. Your focus will be on acquiring new customers through various digital marketing channels as well as direct mail. You will have accountability for advancing our marketing strategy to better reach Upmarket consumers using existing and new channels. You will also be responsible for developing, motivating, and influencing a large cross functional team including Analysts, Brand strategists, Creatives, Technologists, and a virtual team of agency and internal partners.



The Director will report to Sr. Director of Marketing for the Upmarket credit card business, and will serve on the leadership team. Other key relationships will include the senior management team of the card business and other senior executives in Capital One’s other lines of business, corporate strategy, digital labs, technology, risk and legal teams.



Responsibilities:



+ Lead the development and deployment of the marketing strategy & plan for all acquisitions marketing for Venture, Quicksilver, and other new products

+ You will liaise closely with senior leadership to define KPIs and success metrics for all marketing activities

+ Collaborate across Capital One to uncover, initiate and lead innovative channel marketing opportunities (e.g. new & emerging marketing channels)

+ Develop and lead high performing team of 5-7 direct reports

+ Ability to manage up, across, and down within a large organization and win support for recommendations

+ Partner with other marketing function leads (e.g. mass advertising, PR, social) to collaboratively solve problems and drive towards powerful integrated marketing campaigns

+ Harness targeted insights to design and develop new marketing experiences and concepts for our broader go-to-market strategy



What you bring:



+ Expert-level knowledge of digital marketing principles such as funnel optimization, UX, SEO & landing page optimization, acquisition/conversion best practices, segmentation, and marketing analytics

+ Exceptionally collaborative and imaginative

+ Curiosity about consumer behavior, marketing technologies, and competitive activity

+ Data driven/analytical approach to building marketing strategies

+ High EQ and ability to influence across cross-functional organization



+ You would describe yourself as being resourceful and self-motivating

+ You possess excellent organization and people skills, plus the ability to set priorities, problem-solve, and work well in a dynamic environment

+ You exhibit excellent judgment and have high standards

Basic Qualifications:



+ Bachelor’s degree or military experience

+ At least 8 years of experience in direct to consumer marketing (B2C) with at least 4 years in digital marketing

+ At least 4 years of experience leading a team



Preferred Qualifications:



+ Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Marketing, Communications or Business

+ Master’s degree

+ At least 10 years of experience in direct marketing and Brand management in a Business to Consumer (B2C) environment

+ At least 5 years of experience in digital marketing with a focus on direct response

+ At least 6 years of leadership experience including building and managing teams

+ At least 4 years of leadership of large brands and complex portfolio and channel strategies

+ At least 3 years of work experience in retail or at least 3 years of work experience in technology or at least 3 years of work experience in financial services
