Master Software Engineer, Full Stack



As a Capital One Full Stack Software Engineer, you'll work on everything from customer-facing web and mobile applications using cutting-edge open source frameworks, to highly-available RESTful services, to back-end Java based systems using the hottest techniques in Big Data. You'll bring solid experience in emerging and traditional technologies such as: node.js, Java, AngularJS, React, Python, REST, JSON, XML, Ruby, HTML / HTML5, CSS, NoSQL databases, relational databases, Hadoop, Chef, Maven, iOS, Android, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure to name a few.



You will:



+ Lead and Manage Card Slice RTM Services, Infrastructure, Process and Teams

+ Lead, Manage and Own AWS Migration activities

+ Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios

+ Continuously improve software engineering practices - Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies

+ Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions

+ Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community

+ Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity

+ Lead and/or mentor a team of engineers



Additional Responsibilities:



+ Work as part of a dynamic team throughout the software development life cycle

+ Collaborate with architects, engineers and analysts to implement enhancements or new applications

+ Develop code to meet story acceptance criteria

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

+ Conduct design and code review to ensure compliance with standards

+ Create automated test suites to validate the quality of your code

+ Estimate level of effort to develop code to meet acceptance criteria

+ Ability to work independently in a fast paced, unstructured environment

+ Ensure adherence to continuous improvement practices as required to meet quality / time to market imperatives

+ Ability to work independently in a fast paced, unstructured environment

+ Own technical design and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems

+ Work with Product Owner to understand the business problems and design solutions

+ Collaborate with other platforms tech leads to ensure integrated end-to-end design and delivery

+ Understand how evolving technology affects domain; stays current and leads team through new technologies

+ Responsible for key system design and integration decisions; and for communicating decisions to individuals implementing the system

+ Lead team to provide production (L3) support as needed for the application in Production

+ Designing applications for automated monitoring and alerting



Basic Qualifications:



+ Bachelors Degree or military experience

+ At least 4 years of Leadership and Hands-on Tech Experience

+ At least 7 years of software development experience using Java EE technologies

+ At least 4 years of experience in developing RESTful APIs

+ At least 1 year of experience with cloud services (AWS) configuration & administration

+ At least 1 year of experience in developing a continuous delivery pipeline



Preferred Qualifications:



+ Masters Degree

+ 8+ years of SDLC experience using Java EE technologies for Middleware and Backend Integration

+ 5+ years of hands on experience in developing RESTful APIs using Spring or Jersey and taking it all the way to production

+ 5+ years experience in RTM

+ 2+ years of experience in DevOps technologies

+ 3+ years of experience implementing automated environment delivery using Open Source tools including Chef

+ 2+ years experience with Scrum, SAFe, and Kanban

+ 1+ years experience with Junit testing development and code quality tools
