Tidewater Community College seeks applications for a part-time (adjunct) teaching faculty position in Nursing. Adjunct faculty members must be responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom, clinical and/or skills laboratory environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. Courses are taught at the Portsmouth Campus and clinical rotations are held throughout the Hampton Roads area.
The adjunct faculty member assumes responsibility for planning, teaching, and evaluating students in the clinical and/or skills laboratory area. The instructor shares in the responsibility of providing quality clinical instruction for the students with the course coordinator. All faculty members must be skilled in oral and written communication and must be able to work cooperatively with other staff members.
Master’s degree with a major in nursing from a regionally accredited college or university. Must have and maintain a current, unencumbered license as a registered nurse or multistate licensure privilege to practice nursing in Virginia. Two years of nursing occupational experience.
Teaching experience in the discipline. Recent full-time clinical employment in an acute care clinical facility. Knowledge of and experience with, proven teaching strategies that promote student success. Candidates should possess sufficient technology skills to work productively in an organization that utilizes significant information and instructional technology resources.
