Riverside Health System is seeking a strong operational safety leader to join our team as Physical Environment Safety Manager. 

Job Summary: Works under the supervision of the Director, Safety & Protection to plan, implement, coordinate, and assess facility OSHA compliance, fire prevention, Healthcare safety and occupational safety and health programs under general direction of RHS leadership. Responsible to executive leadership for the organizing, planning, directing and evaluating of safety programs. Manages the daily operation of RHS safety program to ensure a safe and secure healthcare environment throughout all assigned facilities and grounds. Ensures the essential functions of a safe environment and services of the department are provided to both internal and external customers. Provides leadership and mentorship/support to staff regarding safety in a healthcare setting. Develops and recommends new procedures and approaches to RHS safety based on reports, customer feedback, industry standards, survey data and other data gathered from within RHS. Disseminates information to department heads and facilities regarding identified hazards and unsafe conditions. Assist facility leaders and department heads with enforcing the components of the safety program, using established goals, performance indicators and strategic plans. Maintains documents to ensure organizational readiness for Joint Commission, OSHA and government agency inspections. Manages assignments, responsibilities, assets and resources to ensure an image of professionalism, accepted ethical behavior and optimum customer service is constantly maintained within the department.

 

Education: Bachelor's degree in Operational Safety is related field is strongly preferred. May consider experience in lieu of bachelor's degree.

 

Certifications/Licensure: Valid Virginia driver's license with acceptable driving record is required. CHSP or equivalent is preferred.

 

Experience Requirements:

·         Evidence of responsible job performance with safety, with knowledge of safety concepts and regulations.

·         5-7 years  of experience as a Safety Manager in healthcare operations is strongly preferred.
