|Job Description Summary||
Adjunct faculty members must be responsible for effectively planning and teaching college Political Science courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. Courses will be part of the Portsmouth Dual Enrollment Program, taking place within the Portsmouth Public High Schools for eligible students.
The instructor assumes responsibility for planning, teaching, and evaluating students in accordance with Tidewater Community College policies and appropriate course learning outcomes. All faculty members must be skilled in oral and written communication and must be able to work cooperatively with other staff members.
Master’s degree in Political Science, Government, International Politics, International Relations, International Affairs, or International Studies OR graduate degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Political Science, Government, International Politics, International Relations, International Affairs, or International Studies.
Teaching experience in the discipline. Knowledge of, and experience with, proven teaching strategies that promote student success.
Varies. Hours to be developed in accordance with Portsmouth Public High School class times. Teaching schedule will be approximately one to two 90-minute classes daily Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 2:30 PM according to the high school class schedule.
