Principal Associate, Digital Product Management
Job Title: Principal Associate, Digital Product Management
Location: McLean, VA, 22106, USA
Description: 1750 Tysons (12023), United States of America, McLean, Virginia
Principal Associate, Digital Product Management
In the Consumer Bank, we’ve combined that human-centered design with our heritage of data-driven decision-making to design, build, and test our way to truly enabling financial experiences. We’ve challenged ourselves to spend less time planning, more time doing, and, above all else, to see the world through the eyes of our customers as they work to understand and manage their money.
Our team is trying to build the digital bank you would recommend to your friends. In this role, you’ll own the most critical product (mobile check deposit) to solve our customers’ deposit needs. Your goal will be to grow an already popular feature to something much bigger. To hit this aggressive target, you’ll need to create a flawless experience that every customer will want to use for each check deposit. There are multiple technical, design, and policy hurdles that need to be overcome - and if that wasn’t challenging enough, the product must be so easy to use that less technically savvy customers want to give it a try (so you’ll get your hands dirty in the marketing space).
On any given day, you’ll be:
+ Empowered. You define the quarterly goals and lead a cross-functional team (engineers and designers) in determining the best approach to get there.
+ Learning constantly. As you speak for the customer, it’s imperative you intimately understand their needs and desires. You’ll also interact with many other stakeholders to optimize the product while factoring in a multitude of evolving constraints (e.g. regulatory, technical, financial, fraud, etc.).
+ Innovating relentlessly. Push big change by starting small, testing ideas, and learning your way to results. You’ll need to be comfortable conducting both large (quantitative in-app test/control reads) and small (qualitative user research session) tests.
+ Connecting creatively. This is a hard problem to solve, so you’ll need to find the best ideas from across the organization. How do you have an open and honest discussion on the path forward, disagree agreeably, and then move forward together?
+ Succeeding strategically. Solve the right problem, and have the confidence to stop work on the wrong one. Grow big by starting small and constantly refining the path towards success.
+ Sharing openly. Our culture is one of transparency. Collaboration across multiple teams is a key to success. You’ll need to influence their roadmap while learning from their past experiences.
Here is what you’ will bring to the table:
+ Intellectually curious. You ask why, you explore, you're not afraid to blurt out your crazy idea. Solving complex problems is addictive and you love taking on new ones.
+ Do-er. You have a bias toward action, you try things, and sometimes you fail. You don’t let perfect get in the way of good. You do what needs to get done – “it’s not my job” isn’t in your vocabulary.
+ Empathetic. You quickly realize the unsaid concerns of both our customers and partners. You craft the solution to meet their needs.
+ Communicator. You can communicate complex ideas clearly, your team knows the priorities and why they’re doing what they’re doing. Maybe you’re an introvert, or maybe you’re an extrovert, but nobody accuses you of keeping them out of the loop.
+ Collaborator. You know the right people to work with for each project. You can quickly get alignment with the key stakeholders while pushing forward without delays.
+ Analytical. You aren’t scared of numbers; instead, you believe they help illuminate the truth. You build models over the weekend because they are fun.
+ Fearless. Big, undefined problems don't frighten you. You are able to dive right in and put structure to them.
+ Technical. While maybe not a hard-core coder, the developers will think of you as an “honorary member of the guild” because you can talk their language.
Here is what we’ll will bring to the table:
+ Competitive salary and equity (including a robust 401(k) plan)
+ Excellent medical and dental insurance (and other health benefits)
+ Superstar product, design, data and engineering leaders [Paypal, Google, Gilt, Yodle, AOL, Adaptive Path]
+ Top class engineering teams that you will lead and build product with
+ Continuous learning budget
+ Highly supportive and “bought in” leadership environment
+ At least 1 year of experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver consumer experiences and core product platforms that power those experiences.
+ Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
+ Specific experience as a product lead building consumer-facing web or mobile experiences
+ Demonstrated success partnering directly with engineers and designers in an agile delivery environment to deliver exceptional customer experiences
