Principal Auditor – Audit Practices, Innovation, and Analysis



Corporate Audit Services (CAS), the Internal Audit function within Capital One, is a dedicated group of audit professionals focused on delivering top quality assurance services to the organization’s Audit and Risk Committee. The CAS department is considered one of the leading internal audit functions within the financial services industry and is highly regarded within Capital One. CAS professionals are experienced, well-trained and credentialed, and operate within a highly collaborative team environment to deliver value added opinions and recommendations. CAS is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Principal Auditor to join the Practices and Innovation team. The Practices and Innovation team oversees risk assessments and audit plan creation, quality assurance, methodology, training, operations, and enhancements related to the CAS department. This Principal Auditor will assist in the creation and maintenance of the annual audit plan and support the department’s ongoing continuous risk assessment process. This individual will assist in enhancing efficiency and effectiveness of departmental operations, through the use of data analytics to provide reporting related to risk ratings changes and audit plan status.



**Responsibilities:**



- Responsible for coordination and support of departmental continuous risk assessment process for the CAS department, including management of risk assessment tools within the audit system



- Oversee major components of annual audit planning and routine consideration of risk trigger events for the department



- Maintain the CAS Audit Universe and Annual Plan, coordinating with audit teams to update and refresh as needed



- Facilitate processes related to validation item mapping, resource scheduling, and Plan changes, while providing summary data to include in reports to management and the Board



- Leverage available data and analytical tools to execute and deliver results



- Participation in developing and presenting training programs related to the audit plan and risk assessment process



- Special project work related to process enhancements



- Excellent verbal and written communications



- Ability to prioritize a significant volume of work and requests with multiple or simultaneous deadlines



- Ability to work effectively both in teams and independently; collaborate effectively with partners across the department at various levels

**Basic Qualifications:**



- Bachelors Degree or military experience



- At least 3 years of experience in auditing, audit professional practices, or financial analysis, or a combination



**Preferred Qualifications:**



- Master’s Degree in Accounting, Master’s Degree in Finance, Master’s Degree in Economics, or Master of Business Administration



- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)



- 1+ years of experience with data analysis and reporting



- 1+ years of experience conducting risk assessments or 1+ years experience in project management



- 3+ years of experience with data analytics tools in support of internal audit



- 1+ years of experience in a bank or 1+ years of experience in a financial services firm
