The Program Coordinator for the Tidewater Community College (TCC) Center for Military and Veterans Education (CMVE) Military-related Truck Driver Grant Program (MTDGP) is responsible for the administration and management of the Department of Defense (DoD) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) grant.
The position will support the grant requirement to recruit, train, and place military-related students in jobs as commercial bus and truck drivers. The Program Coordinator’s main objective is to facilitate military-related student academic success to employability in the trucking industry. The position involves regular collaboration with TCC Center for Military and Veterans Education and trucking program staff and students, trucking business and industry representatives, government officials, and military personnel under the direction of the Director, Military Contract Programs.
Knowledge of the trucking industry local, regional, and national, labor market trends, workforce initiatives, and best practices to provide education, training, and employment opportunities. Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to work with military related students in a higher education setting, to include recruitment, academic advisement, and or career counseling. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and maintain effective working relationships with government agencies, military commands, business and industry, and or workforce development education and training providers. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, through proposals, presentations, and correspondence with business, industry, government, and or military entities. Demonstrated ability to manage, document, and track multiple tasks in a highly complex, diverse, and team-oriented work environment. Demonstrated ability to research, develop, and write detailed reports and other documentation. Skilled in software such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database for promotional and marketing materials, correspondence, documents, reports, mass mailings, and administrative management. Ability to coordinate projects across a large, complex organization and with external constituents, including establishing project deadlines and schedules. Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and program requirements. Ability to work varied hours (weekend and evening), at varied locations, and travel in support of grant program. Ability to interpret and apply Virginia Community College System (VCCS), Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and college policies and procedures as they relate to student services and faculty support.Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Military or military spouse experience.
