Information Technology Services (ITS) at Old Dominion University is seeking a full time Project Manager to coordinate the implementation of technical elements of larger projects that cross ITS groups, audit projects on the ITS Project Portfolio, support specific participants within IT Governance, help administrate the Project Management tool and train others in its use as needed. This position is responsible for reviewing project requests for appropriateness, and leads the planning, execution and successful implementation of multiple projects of lesser complexity.

Required qualifications include:

      Demonstrated ability to:

  • Analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems.
  • Work effectively with broad-based constituencies.
  • Build consensus; ability to influence others, and negotiate compromise -- especially those not in the project manager’s reporting structure.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Be collaborative and transparent in a team environment.

Some knowledge of:

  • Project Management Methodology, tools and techniques.
  • System development methodologies.

      Also required are:

  • Skill in leading projects, organizing, planning and managing the contributions of other.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.

 Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience working in a Project Office.
  • Professional certification in Project Management.
  • Experience administrating project and/or portfolio software tools.
  • Experience in a higher education environment.
  • Experience in IT projects.
