This is a PRN position, scheduled on an 'as needed' basis.
Under the direction of the Connections Program Therapeutic Specialist,Recreation Aide for Connections Program, implements the therapeutic recreational needs of the residents to include physical, social, emotional, vocational, spiritual, and cognitive.
The ideal candidate for this position has experience working with seniors in long term or health care settings and good computer skills. He or she must have the physical ability to set up/clean up for events and activities and help seniors get to/from activities, which may include helping them on/off a van or bus.
Requirements
Implements individual recreational program for each resident as part of their overall plan of care
Provides documentation for programs and services
Provides input to Connections Program TR Specialist regarding changes and modifications in the activity plan of care that will assist in overall program and services improvements
Documents participation or regression consistent with regulatory compliance
Escorts participants to and from the program
Leads activities for residents in Connections as designated by the TR Specialist
Provides direction to volunteers and schedules them to assist with the recreation program using their expertise, skills, and interests
Operates a computer and Microsoft Office software programs to assist in the delivery of services
Communicates effectively verbally and in writing to complete specific tasks related to the department
Performs other duties to assist program as directed by the Connections Program TR Specialist
Interacts with residents in a manner compliant with their rights at all times
At direction of Connections Program TR Specialist, implements special projects to address the needs of residents
Qualifications:
Experience in a health care or long term care setting and working with seniors
Experience using Microsoft Office software, including Word, Outlook, Publisher, and Excel
Desire and ability to work with the aging population in an effort to maintain the highest quality of life
Upbeat and engaging
Willing and able to work a flexible schedule
Organized and detail oriented
Available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and/or special events
Must be able to set up for activities and move and re-arrange furniture as necessary
Must be able to help residents in wheelchairs and geri-chairs or those who use walkers and require direction
Must be able to help residents getting on and off a van or bus
Physically able to help with resident evacuation in the event of a fire or other emergency
Must be able to climb stairs between the floors in the facility
