JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing comprehensive nutrition assessments and care planning for patients with special needs. Develops nutrition plans, including specifications, methods and timetables depending on patient status and needs. Ensures that patients nutrition needs and satisfaction levels are met. Educates medical staff and counsels patients and families on proper nutritional care. Manages and promotes nutrition programs according to Riverside standards and policies. Collaborates and communicates with food production staff and clinical departments on established processes, special diets and menu requests. Stays current with most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications and standards of practice. Probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues. Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Riverside policies and procedures. Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments. Implements business practices in order to uphold mission and values.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in course work approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' accrediting agency (The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics). Participates in continuing educational requirements to maintain registration.
CERTIFICATION: In good standing with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Servesafe Certification Preferred.
HOURS: This is a labor pool (as needed) position to provide coverage throughout the Riverside Health System.
