Job Summary: Provides leadership and general management of retail food service operations. Scope of service includes a main cafeteria, a coffee shop and future bistro. Assists in achieving excellence in food service including plans for sales, costs and profit enhancements. Ensures a professional and appropriate service standard while performing the job. Follows and enforces system wide safety and service standards as well as department specific service standards. Functions as system administrator for the point of sale software.   The Manager organizes, directs and coordinates staff and controls a wide range of Food Services activities so as to accomplish the goals and objectives of the department. Initiates continuous quality improvement projects on an ongoing basis so as to improve key aspects of service. Responsible for the efficient operation of the department and adherence to required policies, procedures, state and federal regulations. The Manager ensures nutrition service staff follows hospital policy and procedures designed to promote patient safety and reduce health care related injuries. Responsible for ensuring staff follows the proper guidelines for body mechanics, hazardous materials and standard precautions to avoid personnel accidents and injuries. Supervises all activities related to production, sanitation and/or patient meal services in the absence of other departmental management. Completes additional projects or duties as requested by the Director.

Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Dietetics, Culinary Arts. Food Services, Management, Hospitality Services, Business or other related field required.  

Certification/Licensure Requirements: Serve Safe Certification required within twelve months of hire.

Experience Requirements: 3-5 years progressive food experience is strongly preferred. Two years experience as a Food Services Manager is strongly preferred.  Knowledge of basic computer skills preferred. Previous working experience with the public required. Knowledge of State regulations, DNV accreditation standards, RHS policies and procedures and Food Services policies and procedures preferred.
