Riverside Community Services located in Newport News, Virginia has Full Time and Part Time opportunities for Registered Nurses.
The RN is responsible for assisting patient-care providers access 24- hour -7 days per week to RHS Acute and Emergency facilities and services. Coordinates efficient and effective communication for patient evaluation, consultation and/or admission for patient transfer, bed placement and transportation with referring patient-care provider and accepting physician and clinical staff. Manages all inbound and outbound calls supported by Health Communications, identify patient needs and takes appropriate action according to established department policies/ procedures, including but not limited to requests for physician consultation and patient triage, transfer, bed placement and transportation.
Education: BSN is required or must be obtained within 5 years of the start date in the position.
Licensure: Licensed RN or board eligible by the State of Virginia or compact state.
Experience: Preferred-Previous Patient Transfer and Bed Placement plus Telephone Triage including three years acute skilled care. Patient educator helpful. Clinical experience and proven use of critical thinking and patient clinical assessment skills. Ability to work independently and as a team player in accordance with established clinical policies and procedures with focus on best patient outcomes. Ease of operation of Computer and software. Clear positive communication with co-workers, clinicians including Physicians, Nursing and Management. Provide symptom based triage, RHS Physician and Service referrals, Health Information and Class registration.
