Senior Associate, Community Relations

















Under the leadership of the Card/Central Virginia Community Relations Consultant, the Senior Associate for Card Horizontal Engagement will implement an engagement plan that serves the needs and interests of leaders in Card by designing and executing tactics for associate and executive engagement in communities where Card Horizontal teams work, and Future Edge focused volunteer programs that serve the needs of the business. This role will deliver business returns to Capital One and the line of business (LOB) including Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), business development, and reputation work. This associate supports volunteer engagement and participates on agile teams that provide market-level responses in Card Horizontal markets.











**Primary Responsibilities:**











Associate Engagement and Volunteer Management:











+ Consult with and support a portfolio of executives/business leaders to meet their associate engagement and volunteerism needs through volunteer activities, community leadership and engagement roles.

+ Develop volunteer/engagement plans for Card Horizontal teams (Customer Channels, Business Risk Office, and PRIDSM - Product, Risk, Intel, Decision Science, Strategy, Market & Management) and affiliated Line of Business teams and execute in markets where needed (potentially including but not limited to Las Vegas, Chicago, Tampa, Chesapeake, Richmond, Delaware, Lincoln and McLean).

+ Source, create and tailor volunteer/engagement activities to meet all CRA requirements and the changing nature of staff and footprint of the Card Customer Channels network. Lead these activities for your LOB in markets where assigned.

+ Create or coordinate market-level, associate-led Community Corps Councils (CCCs) or local market equivalent groups that advance and manage individual and team volunteerism in assigned markets. Participate in CCCs that serve assigned markets where LOB is present.

+ Provide and/or leverage onsite volunteer management support where necessary to ensure high quality associate volunteer experiences and drive volunteer retention.

+ Promote associate engagement volunteer tracking and partner with the Community Affairs Operations team regarding volunteer data reporting.

+ Implement volunteer recognition plans.

+ Collaborate with peers regarding national service projects and geographical support executive engagement.

+ Source/manage pro bono service initiatives with leaders in assigned markets.

+ Support the executive and associate engagement goals of the Central Virginia Market President Network as needed.











Communications:











+ Activate Future Edge volunteer programs with LOB associates that support Future Edge messaging.

+ Build community brand locally in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.

+ Articulate the returns of corporate social responsibility and community relations to internal client teams as necessary. Communicate Capital One strategy to external partners.











**Basic Qualifications** :





+ Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

+ At least 1 year experience in community relations OR at least 1 year experience in volunteer management











**Preferred Qualifications:**





+ BA, preferably in business, public relations, or communications

+ Strong partnership building and relationship management skills

+ Demonstrated experience in achieving “win-win,” measurable outcomes through corporate-community partnerships

+ Ability to make connections between projects and initiatives while advancing innovation that differentiates our outcomes

+ Very strong verbal and written presentation skills; strong influencing skills

+ Compelling public speaker

+ Able to articulate return on investment of corporate social responsibility programming

+ Experience creating persuasive PowerPoint presentations; able to write succinctly and descriptively

+ Demonstrated ability to collect and utilize data to drive decisions

+ Strong networking skills. Easily builds and maintains relationships with internal and external Stakeholders at all levels; comfortably and strategically leverages relationships

+ Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multitask. Experience managing large scale events and activities with multiple partners

+ Skills in leading teams and committees to achieve local goals. Ability to design and implement effective work plans and to delegate to and motivate volunteers

+ Strong emotional quotient skills. Ability to influence and comfortably interact with senior executives, community leaders, associates, and client groups across the company

+ Working knowledge of Community Reinvestment Act (CRA)
