Senior Manager - Risk Operations for FIG



We are looking for a Senior Manager, FIG Risk Operations to join the Financial Institutions Group Risk Operations vertical within the Capital One Commercial Bank’s Underwriting and Portfolio Management organization. The Senior Manager, FIG Risk Operations will play a key role in the management and remediation of operational risk issues and process improvement initiatives that impact the Financial Institutions Group’s Underwriting and Portfolio Management functions.



Responsibilities:



+ Lead and coordinate on behalf of the Financial Institutions Group activities relating to Audit, Regulatory Exams and Credit Review.

+ Partnering cross-functionally with members of other LOB Risk Ops vertical business lines to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive consistency and operational efficiencies



+ Communicate operational risks and recommendations to management in written reports and oral presentations

+ Manage staff during audit and regulatory engagements, and provide feedback on work performed. Ensure work is performed in a quality fashion that meets deadlines.

+ Build relationships outside immediate Commercial Business Risk Office team to improve overall quality

+ Demonstrate flexibility in responding to changes in assignment and job responsibility.

+ Prepare Underwriting and Portfolio Management teams for upcoming Audit, Regulatory exam or Credit Review

+ Coordinate with 2nd and 3rd line of defense organizations to execute on assurance activities and other interactions.

+ Liaison to the Commercial Business Risk Office/Internal Audit/Regulatory Relations for internal reviews and exams. Coordinates documentation requests and responses.

+ Manages control documentation

+ Works internally to coordinate needed corrections identified during audits and reviews – data discrepancies, improper system setup etc.

+ Serves on team to address underwriter and portfolio management issues – support, training, best practices



The ideal candidate will have outstanding influencing skills to effectively drive program efforts among a diverse group of underwriters and portfolio managers and will demonstrate a proven track record of excellent project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage work in a dynamic complex environment.



Basic Qualifications:



+ Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience

+ At least 5 years of experience in financial services (Commercial experience preferred)

+ At least 5 years of experience in coordinating audits or regulatory exams

+ At least 2 years of experience in Compliance and/or Risk management

+ At least 2 years of experience with banking laws / regulations and processes



Preferred Qualifications:



+ Familiarity with Commercial Underwriting for SPV and non-recourse lending transactions

+ Consistent, demonstrated ability for applying critical thinking and sound judgment
