Riverside Behavioral Health Center, a Campus of Riverside Regional Medical Center located in Hampton, VA is seeking a dynamic full time Special Education Teacher.

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the development and implementation of instructional goals for students receiving both general and special education services. Plans instruction that is developmentally both age and grade appropriate to achieve desired objectives that reflect the Virginia Standards of Learning for each student. Responsible for obtaining previous school records and providing both progress reports and report cards for assigned students according to school calendar. Provides ongoing assessments of students, progress to assist in making meaningful decisions with regards to students, educational goals. Prepares for and participates in IEP (Individualized Educational Plan) meetings as needed. Maintains educational records and prepares monthly progress reports for Treatment Team Meetings. Participates in Treatment Team meetings as needed. Maintains safety, organization, and cleanliness of the assigned classroom. Ensures compliance with Department of Education Licensing regulations and maintains a current valid teaching license. Works within the philosophy and objectives of the Riverside Behavioral Health Center.

EDUCATION: B.A. or B.S. Degree. Minimum-Provisional Teaching License/Preferred-Collegiate or Postgraduate Professional Teaching License

CERTIFICATION: Current Virginia Teaching License with a minimum endorsement in ED (Emotional Disturbance K-12), SLD (Specific Learning Disabilities K-12), Special Education - General Curriculum K-12 or related field. BLS is required within 10 days of hire. First Aid is required within 30 days of hire

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one year teaching experience working with students with emotional disturbance, learning disabilities or related disabilities preferred.
