Sr. Analyst, Counterparty Credit Risk



**Job Title:** **Sr. Analyst, Counterparty Credit Risk**

**Level:** Senior Associate



The Counterparty Risk Group (CRG) establishes, monitors, and mitigates counterparty credit risk for capital markets related activities. The Analyst will be responsible for assessing the credit risk of the counterparties in his/her assigned portfolio, which may include banks, broker-dealers, asset managers, credit unions, and insurance companies. In addition, he/she will engage with the business and counterparty where necessary to provide credit limit recommendations and detailed credit reviews, or risk mitigating actions where appropriate



**Key responsibilities:**

-Complete counterparty credit reviews via fundamental credit analysis, market updates, relevant industry news and research, and where appropriate, client due diligence

-Establish and manage counterparty credit limits across various asset classes

-Provide research on relevant industry and regulatory trends to assist the overall counterparty credit rating and review

-Assist in the negotiation of key credit terms in legal documentation such as Master Netting Agreements

-Develop market and policy understanding with respect to mitigating counterparty credit risk

-Develop insightful and actionable reporting on overall counterparty risk in Capital One’s portfolio



-Regularly validate the performance of risk scorecards, stress tests and other analytical tools used to mitigate credit risk

-Serve as the point of contact for new client requests from various business units across Treasury and Commercial



-Develop an understanding of how financial and capital markets transactions, including derivative and foreign exchange trading, generate risk exposure



-Complete ad hoc projects and reports as requested, such as portfolio trend analysis, report automation, presentations to senior management



- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills



- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills



**Basic Qualifications:**

-Bachelor’s degree in Business, or in Finance, or in Economics, or Military experience

-At least 2 years of experience in credit underwriting, specifically in financial institutions



-At least 2 years of Financial Services and Credit/Risk

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office



**Preferred Qualifications:**



- 2 years of Capital Markets experience preferred



-Proficiency with third party data services (SNL, or S&P Capital IQ, or Bloomberg)



-Proficiency of VBA or proficiency in SQL



-Certified Public Auditor (CPA) OR Certified Financial Analyst (CFA)
