POSITION TYPE: FULL TIME
HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Accounting Supervisor

ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE:

Job Summary: The Staff Accountant will be responsible for a range of general staff accounting tasks but will be primarily responsible for accounting work associated with accounts receivable and accounts payable. This role will utilize excellent accounting knowledge, strong communication and time management skills, and effective problem solving to ensure success.

  • Daily trips to the post office (and bank as necessary) 
  • Post and deposit cash receipts
  • Monitor and research customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments and other irregularities
  • Regularly communicate with customers to collect payment for overdue bills, resolve payment discrepancies, and answer inquiries in a timely, efficient manner
  • Regularly communicate with department managers and staff with respect to outstanding invoices and other customer issues in a timely manner
  • Create weekly and monthly reports
  • Assist with cash reconciliation, daily reporting, and processing wire payments
  • Perform other related duties/projects as assigned

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE:

  • Code and review invoices for appropriate approval before payment
  • Process and post payments
  • Plan weekly check payments
  • Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
  • Create daily and monthly reports
  • Assist with month-end closing
  • Perform other related duties/projects as assigned

FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:

  • concepts and processes needed for maintaining accurate and thorough records of financial transactions
  • tasks and identifying efficiencies involved in creation, implementation, evaluation and enhancement of internal control processes as related to accounting

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, vendors, management, and staff
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles 
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data and understand the related business implications
  • Must demonstrate ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as part of an Accounting team
  • Strong independent problem solving skills
  • Excellent listening, oral, and written communication skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to changes, prioritize, multi-task, and work well under pressure
  • High proficiency in MS Excel

 REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 
  • 3 + years of general accounting experience 
  • Experience working in a ERP environment (preferably Microsoft Dynamics AX)
  • Supervisory experience
